The Ultimate Teacher Gift Guide 2019

Uncategorized · November 29, 2019

Happy #feetup(Black)Friday! Just for something fun (and because I absolutely refuse to grade anything during this break), I’m sharing my 2019 ultimate teacher gift guide. Every item on the list is under $35 (or really close to $35). This list has all of my favorite teacher-y things (that I actually own) and that can help save you a little shopping time and money this holiday so you can spend more time grading essays relaxing!

Many of these items are on sale for Black Friday, and I’ll try to give you promo codes or sale updates when it’s applicable. I also included some of my favorite small business shops too. Remember, to shop small tomorrow for Small Business Saturday!

  1. Memory Foam Slippers—These slippers are an awesome dupe for the Ugg slippers. Give the gift of an awesome #feetupFriday!
  2. 20oz Classic Tumbler with Straw Lid & Flip Lid—I shared this tumbler my Instagram stories a week or so ago, and I got so many questions! It comes is many patterns, and it will keep your drink cold (or warm) all day, so no more cold teacher coffee!
  3. Thermos Funtainer—No microwave? No problem. This little Thermos keeps your lunch warm all morning!
  4. Court of Thrones and Roses Series—This was my favorite series last year! I could not put it down! It is definitely not appropriate for high schoolers, but it’s such a great read adults! (If you’re looking for something more appropriate for middle school/high school age, check out The Selection Series. I also loved this series!)
  5. Bar Necklace—I wear my bar necklace almost every single day! What makes it even cooler is that my best friend from high school owns this amazing business! Use the code THANKFUL20 for 20% off your order.
  6. Crystal Ball Prism Pendant—I have two of these prisms hanging in my classroom windows, and they bring so much to my students. These prisms create beautiful rainbows all over the classroom when the sun shines in. They’re a great teacher gift to bring joy to any classroom.
  7. Echo Dot—There are so many classroom uses for an Echo Dot and they’re currently only $22 down from $50! (Just be sure to check your school’s policy on internet connected voice devices.)
  8. Necklet Double Layering Clasp—This item is for any teacher running late in the morning. This is one of my favorite purchases of 2019! This neat little clasp has a magnet that makes putting on your favorite necklace so quick and easy. I enjoy layering my necklaces, so it’s great for keeping them from getting tangled.
  9. Chenille Oversized Turtleneck—I shared this awesome find with some of my teacher friends (ask @buildingbooklove and @writeonmissg), and now, we all match because we wear them so often! They’re made for leggings (long in back), and they’re SO comfortable!
  10. Self Inking AP Grading Rubric Stamp—I came across this awesome idea in a Facebook group and immediately ordered one. This will make grading handwritten AP essays so much easier. (It’s the updated rubric.) If you don’t teach AP, there are many other awesome options!
  11. Chunky Knit Beanie—Bus duty during winter in Pennsylvania? No problem! I love this beanie! It’s currently 50% off with free shipping on all orders!
  12. Blush Scrunchies—Somehow all of my hair ties disappear, so you can never have too many! These are my favorite scrunchies, so I always have a stash in my desk.

I hope you and yours have a wonderfully relaxing break!

.
A few years ago, I bought a brown paper roll for the kids, and then I realized it was the PERFECT size for wrapping most gift boxes without having to cut the top or bottom. It's thick and easy to wrap with, and it's only $15 for a HUGE roll. .
So, I use that roll for most gifts, and only bought three nice rolls of the fancy stuff to mix in here and there. It's so much cheaper this way. I would have needed 15+ of those nice rolls to wrap everything otherwise.
.
To finish it off, I just buy some string and tie up the package at the top before tying in the gift tag over it. (If you have nice handwriting, which I do not 😂, you could just write directly on it.) Then, I cut some pine sprigs from the bottom of our Christmas tree (free 😏) and stick it behind the string and card.
.
AND done! I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you want to see a quick tutorial on stories. I'll link everything in @liketoknow.it for you. Click the link in bio. http://liketk.it/2I9k3 #liketkit .

Instagram post 2196176698431580011_1410957952 You know what's the best sound in a classroom?!
🤷🏼‍♀️
SILENCE!
😆
Ok, not really, but it is nice to have ONE silent class every now and then! My rowdy 9th period class did the JOB on this activity, and actually, I was the ONLY one accidentally who broke the "absolutely no talking" rule. 😬
.
I'm *almost* done with a really fun classroom management/instructional strategy resource that has been in the works since I had student teacher last. I can't wait to share it with you!
😊
In the meantime, tell me your favorite discussion strategies and styles!

Instagram post 2187400846172687174_1410957952 #thankful ✨ We had a great day with our families--lots of laughs, fun, and good food! Gigi ran her first 5k and finished in 46 mins, which is pretty impressive for a 6 yo! 🏃🏼‍♀️ (Although, Mike carried her for a mile when she got super tired! 🤣 Should I try that for the next one we run? 😆)
🏃🏼‍♀️
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family! 🦃 I'm so thankful for this community!

🌮
Speed debating is one of my favorite @keepingthewonder ideas from my GIRL, @writeonwithmissg! She had the BEST speed dating ideas, and for speed debating, we tackle both trivial 😋 and worldly issues, AND we use rhetorical appeals to do it. Abby's KTW presentation gave me and my students one of my favorite classroom activities! Thank you, Abby! 👑
✨
We want to see your favorite #keepingthewonderworkshop ideas this week! Share a pic & tag @keepingthewonder, and we'll send KTW swag to lots of lucky winners!
💖
Now, let's settle this very *important* debate: burritos vs. tacos? 👇🏼

Instagram post 2185279508498683978_1410957952 THIS happened today! 😍
.
One of the amazingly talented students I get to teach made this beautiful classroom stage for me! I can't even tell you how this made my day! 🤩
.
Thank you so much, Emily! You are SO talented! Give her a double tap for me! ❤️ (AND because she wants to be a teacher too! 🤗)
.
P.S. My late grandfather had a phrase he would always say to us: "think & do." "Seek & find" from a Walt Whitman poem has become mine. 💖

I finished the Harry Potter series, & it was as magical and wonderful as you all promised it would be!
✨
Book 7 was by far my favorite (followed by The Prisoner of Azkaban). Which was your favorite?🧙‍♀️

Instagram post 2183546374111436514_1410957952 In 2009, I was newly engaged to the love of my life, just finished student teaching, was hired at my first teaching job, bought our first house, brought our baby Champy home, and I thought life couldn't get any happier.
💖
Ten years later, I know I was wrong. ✨
